Monthly Astrological Insights for June 2021
Date Posted: May 31, 2021

June is likely to witness a full array of significant worldwide events that mostly due to the Uranus-Saturn square as a major planetary event. During the entire month this square will be with in a degree, and the perfect square during June 14-16. As detailed below the manifestation of this square will be reflected in continued friction between the Israelis and Palestinians (the Hamas faction), ongoing global vaccine drive challenges, social unrests in the Middle-East, Russia and China, and a significant rise in natural and man-made calamities in the United States.

In addition, the energies of Pluto-Mars and Pluto-Saturn oppositions may become responsible for intense violence in the Middle-East area and between India and Pakistan respectively.

Other important events are: the retrograde Mercury, and it will continue to be retrograde till June 23; and the annular solar eclipse of June 10. More on these below.

Retrograde Mercury (May 30 - June 23)

On May 30, the planet Mercury became retrograde in sidereal Gemini. It will stay retrograde in Gemini/Taurus until June 23. Typically retrograde Mercury means anxieties, communication breakdowns, unexpected delays, frustrations, missing deadlines, unforeseen obstacles and disappointment in daily chores. Retrograde Mercury in Gemini means more frustrating periods for educators, academics, traders, communicators, merchants, activists and researchers. This is not a good time to start a new project or venture, but rather reflect on what's been done so far.  Also, this is the best time to cleanup that closet and do other chores that you have been postponing due to lack of time.

In addition, if you have dominating Mercury in your birth chart and if Mercury is currently your operating planet, then you are more likely to experience the pronounced effects of retrograde Mercury during this period with respect to matters signified by the house it's currently transiting through in your Gochar (transit) chart.

Annular Solar Eclipse (June 10 )

A total solar eclipse occurs on June 10 approximately during the hours of 8:00 to 13:00 GMT with maximum during 10:00 to 11:00 GMT.  This eclipse will be visible in Northern Canada, parts of Russia and Greenland.

This eclipse is not so important since the Sun and Moon will be more than 9 degrees away from Rahu, the Northern or ascending lunar node in the sidereal zodiac sign Taurus. Nonetheless, to some extent this eclipse, according to Vedic astrology, is likely to be unfavorable for those who have sidereal Taurus rising or Taurus as moon sign.

For those who have the lunar nodes in conjunction with either Sun or Moon in their natal charts might want to be careful.  Make it a day of rest. Take extra precaution and avoid any sort of new activity during the time of eclipse.

Jupiter's transit in the sidereal Aquarius  (Phase 1: April 5 - Sept 15; Phase 2: Nov 20, 2021 - April 13, 2022 )

On April 5, Jupiter left (sidereal) Capricorn and temporarily entered the next zodiac sign, Aquarius.  Jupiter's transit from one zodiac sign to the next occurs, on average, once a year. This time, the first phase of Jupiter's transit in Aquarius will last until Sept 15, 2021. Then with its retrograde motion it will return to Capricorn and stay in Capricorn till November 20, 2021. And then on November 20, 2021, it reenters Aquarius and starts its second phase and that will last until April 13, 2022.

Aquarius being the air sign Jupiter's manifestation in Aquarius will certainly  be reflected in emergence of new philosophies, philosophical debates, and as a result, perhaps new norms and new way of living.  For the entire world, in general, it's going to be an auspicious time from the spirituality advancement point of view. In addition, Aquarius being a fixed sign, the resulting philosophical influences will likely to be long lasting.  Also, academia, social reformers, social justice, morality, universal brotherhood and to some extent religions are likely to be positively influenced by Jupiter's transit in Aquarius.

While in Capricorn (September 15 - November 20), being a cardinal and earth sign ruled by Saturn, Jupiter in Capricorn has a tendency to enhance material prosperity of those who have well placed and well connected Saturn and Jupiter in their birth charts while others likely to experience their prosperity diminish. In general, transit of Jupiter in Capricorn is positive from material prosperity standpoint. It must be noted that despite Jupiter's positive influence on world material prosperity, influence of other planets should be taken into consideration to assess the net effect for an individual based on his or her natal chart. In general, the Capricorn Jupiter is known to be responsible for world economic expansion.

For individuals, for those who have dominant Jupiter in their birth charts and have Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, Leo, or Libra as their natal ninefold (Navamansa) ascendant are likely to experience a very positive period beginning April 5 thru September 15, and then Nov 20, 2021 thru April 13, 2022.

Saturn-Uranus Square (January 18 - July 19)

One of the most important and deadly planetary combinations of 2021 is the Capricorn Saturn and Aries Uranus square during January 18 thru July 19 and then during the entire month of December 2021.

Aries being a fire and cardinal sign is very suitable for brilliant, independent, ambitious, energetic, impulsive and crazy Uranus. The changes in world political landscape have been tremendously influenced by Uranus's transit in Aries (Brexit's revival, Briton intensely suffering from Covid-19 crisis, humiliating defeat of Donald Trump despite last ditch efforts to overturn the results and inauguration of president-elect Joe Biden as the next President of the United States of America, etc.,).

Now combine the Uranus's energy with that of steadfast and subtle but very powerful energy of Capricorn Saturn through its challenging square with Uranus. It's a perfect combination for material world disasters including the natural calamities such as a possible outbreak and spreading of new virus . Unless these energies are properly understood, the man-made calamities might include increased friction between world powers (USA-Russia and China) resulting into war-like climate.

The people who are likely to be most affected by this square are military personnel, people in power such as business leaders and political leaders.  In scientific and technological areas expect drastic changes; and emerging new ideas will find their ways into innovations and discoveries.  Since the characteristics of Uranus are closely tied with that of the United States as a country (especially the states of California, Oregon and Washington) likelihood  of serious natural and man-made calamities, political and financial upheavals in the United States is very strong.

Since characteristics of Uranus are more aligned with liberal ideas and that of Saturn with conservatism, I wouldn't be surprised if an intense battle emerges between the right wing republicans and the left wing democrats not only in congress but all over the country that might last through July.

About President Joe Biden and his challenges.......

Presently President Joe Biden's Dasa cycles are: Jupiter major, Rahu intermediate and Mercury as sub cycle lasting till September 8, 2021.  The planets in the Nakshatras (constellations) ruled by Jupiter are: Jupiter and Mercury; in the Nakshatras ruled by Rahu are: Mars and Ketu; and in the Nakshatras ruled by Mercury: none. Thus, the activation of energies of Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Ketu are expected to be reflected in President's activities and actions.

With Libra as his ninefold (Navamansh) ascendant, the favorable Jupiter continues to be in the 5th house of his Gochar (transit) chart till September 15, 2021; Mercury in the 8th and Mars in the 10th both for the entire month of June, and Ketu in the 2nd house.

Given Gochar chart dispositions of the above planets, Jupiter will be favorable for him at least until June 21 in achieving quite a few goals that he has been set out to do, and these include humanitarian needs such as continued Covid-19 nationwide vaccinations efforts, global vaccine drive, a possible Israel-Palestine peace effort, infrastructure bill.  After June 21, his efforts and progress may either seem to slow down or come to a standstill as Jupiter turns retrograde. Additionally, despite a slow start, Mercury will be successful for him for the entire month of June in dealing with day to day issues and getting things done.  His popularity is likely to remain high as Americans continues to experience more stability.

In addition, the 10th house Gochar Mars will be favorable for him in achieving his major goals after a significant effort and fight in congress in getting some important bills passed. The lunar node Ketu will reasonably favorable in having less obstacles in governing the country.

However, the opposition of the transiting Uranus to his natal Mars, the square of the transiting Saturn to his natal Mars and the conjunction of the transiting Rahu to his natal Saturn will likely to be reflected in new new challenges that will test his ability to govern.  It may prove to be a very painful experience for him, especially the energy of the transiting Uranus and Saturn likely to force him to be more confrontational, the act that he always like to avoid.

Overall, June is likely to fair a mixed month for him with success in dealing with ongoing issues on one hand but facing the new challenges requiring him to be more confrontational with unknown outcome on the other.
