Monthly Astrological Insights for August 2020
Date Posted: July 31, 2020

On August 16, the mighty Mars will be entering sidereal Aries, a fire and cardinal sign ruled by Mars.  About the same time the Aries resident explosive Uranus will become retrograde creating tremendous uncertainty to the already volatile political atmosphere in the United States. It would be a drama of the decade.  Furthermore, later in September, when Mars turns retrograde joining the retrograde Uranus (both in the fire sign Aries), the planetary impulses of both Mars and Uranus are likely to activate the force of nature that might appear to be very painful and deadly.

For those of you who have predominant Mars in their birth charts and if it's currently active through your Gochar (transit) chart, then you are very likely to experience an extremely eventful month with lot of activities.  You may have to repeat things over many times to get it right, or you may have to deal with unfortunate and totally unexpected circumstances, and in general, you may end up in having a very frustrating experience.  In particular, politicians, leaders, engineers, designers, construction workers, people who work in military, managers and like are likely to be more affected than others.

At a collective level, expect a political tension building among developed nations.  Destruction of wealth due to natural calamities or man made accidents are also very likely. On going aftermath of Covid-19 worldwide outbreak and a sudden rise in terrorist activities, escalation in a warlike climate, and of course increased covert activities among nations are the real possibilities.

As in July, two major planets ( Pluto and Jupiter) will likely to continue the painful experiences (such as the Covid-19) in August that we have been through in July.

Among the retrograde planets, Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter are certainly important as they all will be imparting their impulses, requiring us to stop going forward with our ambitious agenda of acquiring material success and instead taking a pause to look inward and perhaps reflect on life in a meaningful way. And these reflections become the basis for our next step of collective human evolution.

Retrograde Jupiter (May 15 - September 13)

Jupiter became retrograde in sidereal Capricorn on May 15 and with its retrograde motion it returned to Sagittarius on July 1, 2020. It remains retrograde in Sagittarius until September 13.

While in Sagittarius, being a fire and mutable sign ruled by Jupiter itself, Jupiter in Sagittarius deals with judicial matters, being righteous and believes in the cause of social reforming, through the forces of activism and other it finds way to meet those goals.

For those who have a well placed Jupiter in their birth charts and if Jupiter's period is currently in operation, such folks are likely to feel the deceleration in their progress.  Remember it's only temporary!  Need to put more energy in to whatever you do to achieve what you need to achieve.

On the world scene, particularly in religious world, "confusion" will dominate and things are likely to move at much slower rate.  The world economy may experience a slower growth.

Retrograde Saturn (May 11 - September 29)

Saturn became retrograde on May 11 in sidereal Capricorn, and is going to stay retrograde till September 29 in Capricorn.  For those who have a well placed Saturn in their birth charts and if Saturn's period is currently in operation, then they are likely to experience slow progress. Best way to deal with retrograde Saturn is to put more energy in to whatever you do to work towards your goal.

On the world scene, generally, the projects that deal with expansion are likely to either stay on hold or experience sluggish progress.  In religious world, things are likely to move at frustratingly slow rate.  In the political arena what may seem like progress will turn out to be a disaster.

About President Donald Trump and his current challenges

President Trump's operating Gochar planets (the planets that presently active for him) for August continue to be Saturn and Venus.  In addition, Jupiter, Uranus, Rahu and Sun continues to be the operating planet till September 19.

During August the retrograde Saturn will be in the sidereal Capricorn, in the eighth house  of his Gochar (transit) chart. In his ninefold Gochar (transit) chart, Saturn will be in the ninth house till August 8, and then in the 8th house for the rest of the month. The Venus will be in sidereal Gemini (the 1st house of his Gochar Chart) for the entire month. While the transiting Jupiter, Uranus, Rahu and Sun will be in the 7th, 11th, 1st and the 2nd/3rd house respectively in his transit chart, in the ninefold transit chart Jupiter, Uranus and Rahu will be in the 6th, 3rd and the 5th house respectively.

From Dasa standpoint, Saturn continues to be unfavorable, being in the eighth house of his Gochar (transit) and in the ninth house of his ninefold Gochar (transit) chart till August 8 and then in the 8th house.  As a result, President Trump may appear to be self-destructive and continues to face challenges in dealing with his friends and adversaries alike. In addition to be frustrated and depressed, he is likely to be in the company of wrong people. Despite the on going Coronavirus crisis, he will continue to misbehave by driving his own agenda with no evidence or proof and have friction with his cabinet members, members of the Coronavirus task force and political adversaries. Furthermore, he will be dealing with his self-created feud with congress men and women and others.  Overall chaos, fear,  confusion and disappointment will likely to dominate to describe his political experiences.

The manifestation of the 1st house resident transiting Venus is likely to be very favorable for him from the showmanship standpoint.  His rating might start rising again, albeit slowly. In addition, Uranus is going to favor him in figuring out the winning strategy as election date nears. While Jupiter will be unfavorable from the health standpoint, Rahu will be responsible for him adhering to lying strategy.

The most serious challenge that has been going on for a while is due to the opposition of transiting Pluto to his natal Saturn. During August it will continue to be intensive.  From governing the country standpoint, he would likely to be overwhelmed by defeat and humiliation.

Thus, during August, the challenging transit of Saturn will continue to present very intensive and painful time for him.  But the favorable influence of Uranus and Venus transit will help him pave the way to get out of the slump and rise again in poll numbers. However, the opposition of the transiting Pluto to his natal Saturn will certainly continue to create explosive political climate, governing failures, mishandling of coronavirus crisis, and therefore, resulting in  yet another trying and frustrating month.

However, when one looks at the close conjunction of Sun and Rahu, and Rahu and Uranus in the 10th house of his natal chart,  and Moon in very close conjunction with the lunar node Ketu in the 4th house of his natal chart, it's not surprising why he operates the way he does.  It seems to me that he is totally driven by the country's (USA) destiny (at least at this point in history) which is very closely tied with his own due to the Rahu-Uranus conjunction in the 10th house of his natal chart.

It's the reflection of what collectively the country (USA) as a whole is going through at this point in time. Perhaps, it's a part of painful process of transformation and discovery of the next phase of its evolution. If the country's destiny is at the crossroad of "CHANGE" at this point in history, that will certainly be reflected in political events of August. Perhaps, it seems more and more likely that the Coronavirus outbreak and its ultimate toll on Americans finally may out bring that "CHANGE".

Global Insights........

The important challenging planetary configurations for August include

Saturn-Rahu (July 25 - Sept 16) quincunx, Neptune-Rahu (July 16 - Aug 2) and Uranus-Saturn (Aug 4-12) ninefold quincunxes;  Neptune-Uranus (July 21 - Aug 11) ninefold square; Pluto-Mars (Aug 11-15) and Saturn-Mars (Aug 21-28) squares.

The Saturn-Rahu (July 25 - Sept 16) quincunx may become responsible for social or political unrest in places like Russia or China. Also, in the United State for the Republican Party and republicans including for the republican president, it may prove to be prudent to stay on guard during this period.

The Neptune-Rahu (July 16 - Aug 2) ninefold quincunx may become responsible for social as well as economic turmoil in Russia and China. Covert activities around the world may find a new momentum (but because of Neptune's secretive character we may never know) with regard to terrorism and other international conflicts.

The manifestation of the Uranus-Saturn (Aug 4-12) ninefold quincunx may be reflected in social or political turmoil in Russia, China and the United States, as well as in rising tensions among these nations.

Terrorism and violence around the world, especially in the Middle-East and particularly in Israel-Palestine area will be on rise. Also, outbreak of an undesirable happening, and occurrences of both natural and man-made calamities are strong possibilities.

The Neptune-Saturn (Aug 6-22) ninefold trine and the Neptune-Rahu (July 27 - Aug 18) sextile may turn out to be positive for Russia and China from economy standpoint. In addition, most of the technological areas, especially in the medical field, are likely to make significant progress via inventions and discoveries. Spiritual and religious activities are likely to impart positive energy, creating a very healthy atmosphere around us.
