What's in for Houston-the city of Saturn for next 10-12 months?

 August 10, 2006

Houston is a largest city from the state of Texas, and the fourth largest in the United States.  It is surrounded by several major refineries and chemical plants, and it has been the energy capital of the world.  Due to oil business it has direct ties with the Middle East; and although the business in city lately has been diversified, a large population of this city still draws revenue from and depends on energy sector.

The inherent characteristics of the United States are predominantly represented by the planet Uranus. But, as a city, the city of Houston is prominently influenced by the the planet Saturn and then Uranus. In my opinion, influence of Saturn on Houston might range from 50 - 65 percent, while that of Uranus (NASA) might be about 30 - 35 percent.

The following description of Houston reflect some of the important characteristics of Saturn in bold.

Houston has been a city where conservatives always enjoyed a strong hold. It's a very practical city for dealing with both businesses and social issues. Hardship and laziness exist side by side in this city. The city has a tremendous ability to persevere and it has endured many natural calamities, and difficult periods. Many nationally and internationally famous personalities live here that include lawyers, industrialists, reformers, and famous political figures.

As we approach the end of August 2006 an unprecedented planetary event is going to take place.  It's the Neptune-Saturn direct opposition. Such opposition occurs about once every 180 years. However, the planet Neptune was discovered around 1846, long after the last opposition between Saturn and Neptune. Since influence of Neptune on us began after it was discovered and became part of our consciousness, the upcoming Neptune-Saturn opposition is, therefore unprecedented. In addition, during this opposition, the sidereal Neptune will be in Capricorn, a sign ruled by Saturn while Saturn will be in Cancer, a very emotional and vulnerable sign. Furthermore, because of their retrograde motions the opposition between these planets is going to happen three times or in three legs before they separate away from the opposition.

Typically the first leg of this opposition brings the shock, the second leg a painful transformation that include an opportunity to further evolve, and the last leg follows the total transformation with the final cleansing.  The schedule for these three legs for Saturn-Neptune opposition (with an orb of 1 degree longitude) is:

First Leg:   August 25 - September 6, 2006

Second Leg:   February 19 - March 11, 2007

Third Leg:   June 15 - July 3, 2007

In addition to this intense Saturn-Neptune opposition, the following planetary configurations of slow moving outer planets will influence the events in next 10-12 months.

Uranus-Jupiter trine     Aug 24 - Sept 3

Pluto- Rahu/Ketu squares    Sept 20 - Oct 18

Neptune-Jupiter square     Sept 20 - 29

Saturn- Rahu quincunx    Oct 16 - 31

Saturn - Jupiter square    Oct 18 - 31

Pluto - Saturn trine    Oct 31 - Dec 5

What are the scenarios that are likely to played out during the Neptune-Saturn opposition?

Well for one thing the world oil markets will likely to extremely volatile in next 10-12 months with a greater likelihood of reaching crude oil over $100 per barrel. Obviously the Middle East is going to dominate the news with constant bombings, violence, terrorism, and the politics of religious fanatics. The clashes between Israel and their enemies will intensify during the all the three legs of Saturn-Neptune opposition and also, during September 20 - Oct 18, 2006). US involvement in the Middle-East conflict will be very heavy.

For Houston, there will be plenty of occurrences of natural and man-made calamities over the next 10 months. Some of these include hurricane (Aug 25 - Sept 6), fire related accidents and arsons, tornadoes, rainstorms, severe weather conditions (Sept 20 - Oct 31, 2006, February 19 - March 11, 2007, and June 15 - July 3, 2007), breakout of a deadly biological virus, social unrest, political chaos, immigration issues, and rising crime rate. The refineries and chemical plants surrounding Houston are likely to experience unusual number of accidents and human casualties. Houston will heavily dominate the national news during these months.

On a positive note, the Saturn-Neptune opposition will manifest in a very subtle and drastic spiritual and moral transformation that is required for Houston to evolve further. The local churches, synagogues, temples, mosques are likely to feel the intensity of this transformation.  As a result, the religious norms are likely to transform to a whole new level.

This prediction failed miserably, or at least, it didn't turn out the way it was portrait. In hindsight, one of the reasons, why the influence of such a deadly Neptune-Saturn opposition turned out to be so mild, in my opinion, might be attributed to the fact that Neptune residing in the sign ruled by Saturn and Saturn's disposition in Cancer, a very auspicious water sign for Neptune formed a mutual reception type aspect where each one has to think twice before it can cause harm to other. Consequently, both Neptune and Saturn probably were ended up (forcefully or not) supporting each other.
